Used Trucks for Sale in Uganda
Sigma Truck supplies inspected, refurbished used trucks for sale in Uganda — HOWO, SHACMAN, Sinotruk and HOHAN — shipped CIF to Mombasa and trucked overland to Kampala, Jinja and the rest of the country. Uganda is landlocked, so every imported truck arrives through the Northern Corridor via the port of Mombasa. We supply right-hand-drive (RHD) units, handle the in-house LHD-to-RHD conversion, and quote a landed CIF price to Mombasa so you know your cost before you commit. Whether you need a single tipper for a Kampala building site or a fleet of tractor trucks for the Northern Corridor haul, this is your starting point.

Why Ugandan Buyers Import Used Chinese Trucks
Ask any transporter in Kampala why they run Chinese trucks and the answer comes down to three things: purchase price, parts, and durability on murram roads. A used HOWO or SHACMAN unit lands at a fraction of the cost of an equivalent European or Japanese truck of the same age, and that gap is decisive when you are building a fleet rather than buying one truck.
- Parts in-market. WD615 and WP10 engine parts, 12R22.5 tyres, brake and suspension components are stocked along the Kampala–Jinja industrial belt and across the border in Nairobi. You are not waiting months for a part while the truck sits idle.
- Built for rough roads. The reinforced chassis and high-clearance suspension on these trucks were designed for China's unpaved construction sites — that translates directly to laterite and murram roads around Mbarara, Gulu and Mbale.
- RHD as standard. Uganda drives on the left, so every unit we ship here is right-hand drive. We do the LHD-to-RHD conversion in-house — steering column, pedal box and dashboard — not a cosmetic switch.
Many buyers searching for lorries for sale in Uganda start out comparing Japanese imports. On total cost over three to five years of hard haulage, second-hand Chinese trucks consistently come out lower once purchase price and parts availability are both counted.
Sino Trucks (Sinotruk / HOWO) for the Ugandan Market
When Ugandan buyers search for sino trucks for sale in Uganda, they mean Sinotruk — the group behind HOWO, HOHAN and SITRAK. These are our core brands, and they are the most common heavy trucks already running on Ugandan roads, which is exactly why parts and mechanics are easy to find.
- HOWO 6×4 and 8×4 dump trucks — the workhorse for Kampala construction and aggregate haulage. See our HOWO trucks range.
- Sinotruk and HOHAN tractor units — for the Mombasa–Kampala corridor and onward to Juba and eastern DRC. Browse Sinotruk trucks.
- HOWO and SHACMAN cargo lorries — box, stake and flatbed bodies for general freight and distribution.
If you already know you want a Sinotruk-family unit, tell us the configuration and we will match available stock to your spec and budget. For dump-specific demand, our dedicated used dump trucks for sale in Uganda page goes deeper on tipper options.
Looking at a Canter, Fuso Fighter or Isuzu Elf? Read This First
A lot of Ugandan buyers come to us after searching canter truck price in Uganda, fuso fighter price in Uganda, or isuzu elf 250 price in Uganda. These are popular Japanese light and medium trucks, and we will be straight with you: we do not sell Canter, Fuso or Isuzu. We sell Chinese trucks. But there is an honest comparison worth making.
- The Mitsubishi Fuso Canter and Isuzu Elf (250/NPR) sit in the 3.5–7 tonne light-duty class. Our equivalent is a HOWO or Sinotruk 4×2 light truck — similar payload, lower purchase price, and increasingly available parts in Kampala.
- The Fuso Fighter is a medium-duty 6–10 tonne truck. Buyers cross-shopping it against Chinese options should read our honest breakdown: Fuso Fighter vs Chinese trucks.
- For the wider Isuzu comparison — running costs, parts, resale — see our Isuzu trucks vs Chinese trucks buyer's guide.
The point is not that Japanese trucks are bad — they are well-built. It is that for the same money you can often put a larger, newer Chinese truck on the road, with a parts network that is catching up fast. Tell us the job and the budget and we will tell you honestly whether we have the right fit.
RHD, Mombasa and the Northern Corridor
Two facts shape every truck import into Uganda: the country drives on the left, and it has no coastline. Both are straightforward once you understand the route.
- Right-hand drive. Uganda requires RHD. Most Chinese trucks leave the factory in left-hand drive, so we convert to RHD in-house before shipping — steering, pedals and instrument cluster, test-driven before sign-off.
- Port of Mombasa. Uganda's imports come through Mombasa, Kenya. We quote CIF Mombasa; from there your unit clears Kenyan transit and runs the Northern Corridor through Malaba or Busia to Kampala — roughly 1,100 km.
- Overland clearance. Ugandan-bound trucks transit Kenya under bond. Most buyers use a clearing agent at Malaba/Busia. We provide full documentation — Bill of Lading, commercial invoice, packing list, inspection certificate — so the clearance is clean.
For a step-by-step on duties, the Northern Corridor and clearing at the Uganda Revenue Authority, read our guide to importing used trucks to Uganda and the broader shipping trucks to East Africa overview. We do not quote duty rates here — they change, and your clearing agent will confirm the current figures.
Which Truck Type for Which Job in Uganda
Match the truck to the work. Here is how demand breaks down across our Ugandan buyers:
- Dump trucks (tippers). Construction and aggregate haulage in and around Kampala, plus road-building contracts up-country. HOWO and SHACMAN 6×4 dominate; 8×4 for quarry and heavier earthworks. See used dump trucks.
- Tractor trucks (prime movers). The Mombasa–Kampala–Juba long-haul, fuel and container haulage. Browse used tractor trucks.
- Cargo lorries. Distribution and general freight — box, stake and flatbed. See used cargo trucks.
- Tanker trucks. Fuel and water bowsers for fuel distribution and construction water supply. See used tanker trucks.
Not sure which configuration fits your route and load? Tell us where you run and what you carry, and we will recommend the axle layout, horsepower and body type before you spend anything.
Our Process: Inspect, Refurbish, Convert, Ship
Every truck we export to Uganda goes through a documented process before we quote a CIF price:
- Inspection. Engine compression and oil pressure, gearbox, axles and diffs, brakes and air system, chassis and frame, cab, tyres, electrics. Units that fail minimum standards are rejected.
- Refurbishment. Worn components repaired or replaced — engine mounts, hydraulic seals, brake liners, suspension bushes. Fluids renewed. Rust treated and repainted.
- RHD conversion. Full mechanical left-to-right conversion for the Ugandan market, test-driven before sign-off.
- Export & CIF shipment. We prepare all documents and ship CIF to Mombasa, with pre-shipment photos and video sent to you before the unit is loaded.
The result is a truck that has been independently checked, repaired to a defined standard, converted for Ugandan roads, and shipped with clean paperwork.
