Sinotruk Trucks for Sale — HOWO & HOHAN from China's Heavy-Truck Pioneer
When buyers in Uganda, Ghana, South Africa or Iraq search for a sinotruk dump truck, they are searching for the output of one company: China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. — known internationally as Sinotruk. Sinotruk is not a single model. It is the state-backed parent manufacturer behind the brands you already know: HOWO, HOHAN, and SITRAK. At Sigma Truck we source, inspect, and refurbish used trucks from the Sinotruk family, then ship them CIF to your port — with your choice of left-hand or right-hand drive conversion done in-house before loading.

What Is Sinotruk? The Corporate Structure Explained
Sinotruk's roots go back to 1956 — making it one of China's oldest and largest heavy-duty truck manufacturers. The group operates several distinct truck brands under one roof:
- HOWO — the mass-market workhorse sold across Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Available as dump trucks, tractor heads, cargo trucks, mixer trucks, water tankers, and more.
- HOHAN — Sinotruk's value-premium series, built with a heavier frame and wider cab for tractor and heavy haulage work.
- SITRAK — a joint-venture premium brand developed with MAN of Germany, targeting fleet operators who want European engineering at Chinese prices.
When you see 'sinotruk truck' in a specification sheet, it refers to the group. When you see 'HOWO' or 'HOHAN', that is the specific brand within the group. We supply trucks from both the HOWO and HOHAN lines. SITRAK units are available by special order — contact us to discuss.
The WD615 371HP Engine: Why Parts Are Never Hard to Find
No single component has done more for Sinotruk's reach in emerging markets than the WD615 engine. This inline-six turbodiesel — producing 371 horsepower in its most common export configuration — entered production decades ago and has been fitted to millions of HOWO trucks sold across Africa and Asia.
The result for buyers today is simple: spare parts are everywhere. A sinotruk 371 engine injector, fuel pump, or turbocharger can be found in Kampala, Accra, Lagos, Dar es Salaam, or Dubai. Local mechanics know the engine intimately. Rebuild intervals are well-documented. This parts ubiquity is a core reason that the HOWO 371 remains one of the most cost-effective heavy trucks to operate in sub-Saharan Africa — even as newer MC and MT series engines raise the performance ceiling on later-model units.
All Sinotruk-family trucks we export come with a full pre-shipment inspection report covering engine compression, transmission, axle condition, and brake system. We replace worn consumables before shipping.
Sinotruk Truck Families We Supply
Our stock covers the most in-demand configurations across the Sinotruk group:
- HOWO 6x4 dump truck — the most requested sinotruk dump truck configuration for mining, construction, and quarry work. Standard rear-tipper body, 20–30 m³ body variants. Suited to Uganda, Zambia, Ghana, and South Africa quarry fleets. See our howo dump truck page.
- HOWO 8x4 tipper — higher payload for overburden and bulk aggregate. The sinotruk 8x4 axle configuration spreads load for softer ground conditions common in East Africa.
- HOWO 6x4 tractor head — sinotruk tractor head units for container haulage and flatbed work. Popular with logistics operators in South Africa, Kenya, and UAE.
- HOWO 371 (WD615) — earlier-generation units with the WD615 engine. Parts availability is the main draw. See our dedicated howo 371 page.
- HOHAN dump & tractor — Sinotruk's value-premium range for operators who need a step up in cab comfort and chassis rigidity without moving to a European brand.
- Sinotruk mixer & tanker variants — concrete mixer and water tanker configurations are available on request, built on HOWO 6x4 or 8x4 chassis.
Why Sinotruk Dominates African Used-Truck Demand
Several structural factors explain why the sinotruk price in uganda, sinotruk price in ghana, and equivalent searches generate consistent volume across sub-Saharan Africa:
- Volume in-country: Hundreds of thousands of HOWO and Sinotruk-badged trucks entered Africa between 2005 and 2020 through Chinese infrastructure projects. That installed base means parts are stocked locally and mechanics are trained.
- Price-to-payload ratio: A used sinotruk 6x4 dump truck delivers competitive payload per dollar spent versus comparable Japanese or European alternatives — a critical metric for owner-operators running on thin margins.
- Drive configuration flexibility: African markets split between LHD (most of West Africa, DRC) and RHD (South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania). We handle both. Our in-house conversion means you specify your requirement at order stage; the truck arrives at your port ready to register.
- CIF shipping clarity: We quote Cost, Insurance and Freight to your named port — Durban, Mombasa, Tema, Apapa, Jebel Ali. No hidden inland charges on our side. One clear number for your budget.
We export to approximately 40 countries. Core markets include South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, UAE, and Iraq. If your country is not listed, contact us — we ship to any port we can reach with a clean Bill of Lading.
Our Refurbishment & Inspection Process
Every used sinotruk for sale in our inventory passes a structured multi-point inspection before it is listed or shipped:
- Engine compression test and oil analysis
- Transmission and transfer case check — all gears, including the low-range crawler on dump variants
- Differential and axle inspection — bearing play, seal condition, diff lock function
- Brake system: air dryer, slack adjusters, drum/lining thickness
- Electrical: instrument cluster, ECU fault code scan (codes cleared only after the root cause is fixed, not masked)
- Cab and chassis: frame crack check, cab mount condition, tipping-body hydraulic cylinder integrity on dump variants
Refurbishment scope is documented and shared with the buyer before payment. We replace parts that fall below service limits. We do not repaint over rust without treating the substrate. If a unit has a known defect we cannot economically fix, we disclose it and price accordingly — or we do not sell it. Photos and video of each unit are shared on request. For buyers sending a third-party inspector to our yard, we coordinate access without charge.
